Sleep

Are you getting enough? Really are you? 

7-9 hrs sleep is recommended and will help you lose weight.  

Even more reasons to catch some extra 💤 


Fruit & Veg

Enjoy foods full of colour and high in nutritional value. 

Snacking on fruit and veg will keep cravings at bay and get you your 5-a-day! 

Being in a calorie deficit will help you lose weight but it’s important to be healthy on the inside too ❤️ as well as fuel you for the day. 


Stress 

Stress is a factor that will hinder your weight loss - so make sure you take the time for you - to relax and unwind.


Exercise

Exercise can contribute to being in a calorie deficit ( you need roughly-500 p/day from either food consumption / activity or a combo of both to lose 1-2lbs a wk) 

It also builds muscles, fitness level and releases those wonderful endorphins that make you HAPPY! 


Water

Staying hydrated is so important! Fuel your mind and body by drinking enough water 💦 8-10 glasses p/day is a great start. Our body weight is made up of 60% water.

The results can be a great guide, to know what you are working towards. But remember to update regularly when you lose or gain weight. 


Ok great, easy right? No.


Unfortunately it's not as straight forward as that...  Not only is it very difficult to measure and track exact food intake and energy expenditure (my fitness pal and fit bit watches are not 100% accurate). 


There are also many factors that determine your body's ability to lose weight. Water retention, genetics, periods, age, portion control, stress levels and energy levels - read more above.


My 5 pillars of health are a great, healthy place to start. It's so important to maintain a healthy relationship with food and exercise. Get the basics right and take away the stress of tracking.


Understanding your body, when to eat, what to eat after a workout to aid recovery, what mix of macros you need and most importantly finding out what works for YOU!
